Open Show in Aid of Rescue 2009

Rescue DogThis years Open Show in support of Rescue was held at a new venue, Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre at Sandiacre, Derbyshire, where our judge was Mrs Judith Brownlee (Jambaro)

The hall proved  spacious with plenty of room for everybody and good catering to boot; the bacon baps were delicious!! A lovely atmosphere prevailed throughout the days events, which apart from the dog showing included a raffle, a special raffle for a delicious looking cake baked by Julie Bates and beautifully decorated by daughter Rosmary, and a special auction of a limited edition print by by Roger Inman entitled "Ridgebacks Closing", which was kindly donated by Len Evans.

All proceeds from all events were to go in their entirety to Midlands & Northern Ridgeback Rescue. The final sum raised amounted to £900, a fine sum and a great effort from all who contributed.

Linda Thomas presents Janice Ellis of Ridgeback Rescue a cheque for 1300 poundsApart from funds raised on the day, a cheque in the sum of £1,300 was presented to Janice Ellis, our rescue co-ordinator, by Linda Thomas, on behalf of herself and husband Neil. Linda and Neil, who come from Boothby Pagnell in Lincolnshire, have worked tirelessly throughout the year in their efforts to raise money for rescue. Linda has become Queen of the dog shows in the locality, engendering great support from exhibitors and sponsors alike.

Linda would like to thank all Dogs and their Handlers who have exhibited at the shows, the dog food and product manufacturers for providing prizes, local businesses in the various villages for sponsoring classes, and of course all of the helpers who have aided in the smooth running of the events. These were held at Ingoldsby Country Fayre, The Griffin Inn at Irnham, Morton Street Fair, Corby Glen Sheep Fair, Bottesford Gala Day and Grantham pet store, Pets At Home.

We would like to thank Linda and Neil for a herculean effort on their part! We hear that they will being doing it all again next year!!!
